Kid Dates

We have always wanted to have regular dates with our kids, but somehow time passes by without it happening like we want it to. One of the things we talked about on our anniversary trip was scheduling them on the calendar, for the two of us too and separately with each of the Gs. We started our August kid date day with breakfast for Greer & B and Gehrig & me.

Cheesing at Daddy over the biggest waffle ever.

Gehrig chose Cracker Barrel for us...yum!

We so loved all the talk time with each of them. They are so much fun and have a lot to say when there aren't a million distractions. :)

After breakfast, B took Greer to do a little shopping for her first Barbie. (She hasn't slept without it since :)). And Gehrig chose to head to the bookstore. We took our time reading a record number of dinosaur and other books. :)

Daddy and little g met us there.

For the evening, we switched date partners. Greer and I had a fun girls' night, snuggled up on the couch in the dark, watching the new Sweet Pea Beauty movie over popcorn and other junk food. When it ended, she looked up and said, "That was great, Mom." I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. :)
.
The boys went fishing and had a ball! B captured our only evening date pic...
.
So thankful for these precious moments with them. At the bookstore earlier in the day, Gehrig saw a Star Wars area and started talking about his friends who really like Star Wars. Then, he looked up and said, "Hey Mom, what do YOU like?" It occured to me that every day busy life keeps us from knowing those things about each other sometimes. So excited to have more fun one-on-one time together and learn all that we can about life and each other!
