Sure is hard to believe that our Babygirl is 5. And yet, she sometimes feels so growny. We got in a little good snuggling before that last 4-yr-old bedtime...
And just like that, she woke up and filled up a hand. :)
Her sweet daddy got the Publix peeps to make her a special breakfast treat...any guy who tries to win her heart is going to have super big shoes to fill :)
So, what is she like at 5? Fu-NEE, oh my word, she cracks us up constantly. She is random and creative and so charismatic. Right about the time she's so far outside of the box that she's about to get in big time trouble, she says or does something so funny or sweet that the anger and frustration melt. And oh, her heart...she loves to package up her toys or homemade cards in envelopes to give away to her friends. She can't stand to see anyone cry and will burst into tears with them, even though she doesn't know the reason. She can tell you (with authority) every rule that we have, but doesn't worry so much about following them. She is so close to her brother and loves her baby sister...and may be the instigator of trouble for them from time to time. ;)
Her lifelong best friend is Madi and she's made precious new girlfriends this year at co-op. She is a talker and a singer. Constant. Mouth. Moving. :) It melts my heart to hear her sing about No matter who you are, you can trust God and A-a-a-men, yeh yeh yeh and Bless the Lord, oh my soul... Her CD player and tag pen & books are prized possessions. She loves Jesus and remembers everything she hears at school or church and can recount scripture and Bible stories with amazing accuracy. She also loves to tell details about her day, even when it's not necessarily a good behavior report for her. Thankfully, she has made great strides in that area since the beginning of the school year!
I've always been amazed at her ability to play well by herself and she is still that way, although she would rather have a playdate or Gehrig to play with most of the time now. She loves to color, still loves playing dressup and is just getting really into barbies. She loves ballet and performing and is sometimes a little dramatic. She's a night owl like her mama and spends time reading or listening to her CDs in her bed long after Gehrig and Garner are racked out. She loves snuggling with her mom and dad, but also tackles better than the boys when she's playing football with Gehrig and his friends.
She's amazingly smart, started reading early and picking up Latin and math and history from her big bro. She. keeps. me. on. my. knees...praying for wisdom to grow obedience and self-control in her without discouraging the fun-loving, big-hearted, creative and happy girl that God made her to be. I'm thankful for her strength and leadership qualities and love her laugh. As a type-A, typical firstborn, I love the opportunity to see life through her eyes and spirit...and maybe secretly wish I could be more like her :). She is all things joy and I love her dearly.
Happy birthday, sweet girl...you bring such life and happiness to our lives!
