first ballet

Greer's ballet company puts on an annual production called "A Roar of Love," that is based on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  It all is a beautiful picture of God's love and sacrifice for us.  Greer played a firefly that dances around the great lion, Aslan, after he has been killed in Edmund's place.

The week of the ballet was busy, but fun.  She had her first "spacing rehearsal" on Wednesday and loved practicing some with hair and makeup and seeing the big stage and auditorium for the first time.

We've spent the last month or two reading books 1 and 2 of the series...initially with the mindset of helping Gehrig to enjoy supporting Greer's performance, but also just for fun as a family.

Then, during theater week, we miraculously had one night with B home from baseball and all cuddled up to watch the movie.  It was SO good.  I've lost count of how many times the kids have watched it since.

Dress rehearsal on Friday...she looks so growny, but beautiful in makeup...

"Take a picture of me too, Mama"

Haley was so super sweet and came to watch Greer's rehearsal.  She has danced in the Roar for 16 years!

Sweet firefly

On the way home...she had so much fun!

Finally, the big day came...time for the real performance on Saturday!  She did such an amazing job. :)

Gehr did really enjoy it, especially since he understood what was going on with the story line.  He was the first in line to give her flowers when she came out of the dressing room :)

Arms full of love!

Sweet family time

Bebe, Mammaw & Pots and Pa were so sweet to come too :)

Warming up in Ms. Kellie's coat and looking like a star ;)

In addition to the flowers, she got the sweetest first ballet gift from the Bournes.  You can tell they've been here before...a ballet picture frame, ballerina flowers, stuffed lion to symbolize Aslan and a glowing wand similar to the glowing wands the fireflies carry in the ballet.  It was perfect and she l.o.v.e.d. it.

We are so proud and happy for our sweet Greer and can't imagine a more perfect firefly. :)  Love you, Babygirl!!

She looks so beautiful! Wish we could have been there to see it!
