We've always thought that Greer's personality may lend to her more easily realizing her need for Christ. She tends to act impulsively and seek forgiveness instead of permission. She is fiesty and funny and aware that she sometimes struggles to listen or follow what can seem like so many rules. She's also quick to show sadness for her actions and not ashamed to admit her shortcomings. Honestly, her heart is probably in a much better place than that of natural rule-followers. One that is humble, sweet and tender. (And amazingly giving.) She loves the Word and specifically, the Jesus Storybook Bible (in print and audio :)). She listens when you don't know that she is, and understands so much that it amazes me at times. Her prayers have always been so genuine and sweet...not being the type to pray (or do anything) in an obligated fashion. Her favorite verse is Zephaniah 3:17: The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love. He will rejoice over you with singing." Her ability to memorize scripture easily is enviable...and no doubt has hidden much truth in her heart. She loves to listen to worship music, sing and dance and has this awesome freedom to express her heart. I love that she is rarely walking around the house without smiling and singing something that praises Him.
One night in September, we were putting everybody to bed and she told me that she had a secret to tell me. I moved closer and she whispered, "I'm ready to ask Jesus into my heart." She said she had been thinking about it the whole time we were on the couch for family worship time and then while we were getting ready for bed, and thought we may not have enough time that night. We finished putting the others down and came back into the living room to talk more. We were both blown away by her understanding of her decision and were convinced that she knew what she was doing. B led her in the sweet prayer of accepting this greatest Gift. It is most certainly the most precious experience of our lives to share that prayer with our children! We're blown away by the privilege and so grateful for the Spirit moving in her heart. She was over-the-moon excited :)))
I'm so so excited to see what the Lord has planned for our sweet, fun girl! She will change the world around her, for sure, and we are grateful to share that with her. I pray that she pursues Christ with her amazing zeal and lives out the love and witness that He especially equipped her for. Her testimony...
What a peace we feel to know that she is now our sister in Christ! I'm blown away, thankful and look forward to her professing her faith through baptism in the coming weeks. 3 John 1:4. The greatest joy indeed :)
