starting our goodbyes to baby life

It's no secret that we haven't been in a rush for Garner to get big.  There's something about this last one that makes you want to hold on to all the little that you can.  :)  We still have her paci and lovey, haven't potty-trained and were fine to keep her in the crib for awhile longer.  However, she apparently intends to do some of that growing-up stuff and decided a couple of Saturdays ago that she was ready for the big bed.  And just like that, it was a done deal.

She crawled in for naptime and slept like a champ.

I wasn't sure what would happen for bedtime that night, but she hopped in like she had always slept there and we never heard a peep.

Thankfully, she is like Gehrig in the sense that she believes us when we say that she can't get out for any reason.  We are thrilled to let her hang on to that notion for as long as we can!  (We taught Greer the same rule, but... :))

The next day, we took her crib down and she hasn't looked back.  We, on the other hand, have been a little sentimental about the fact that we just finished 8.5 continuous great years with that crib and can't believe that we are moving out of the baby stage of parenting for good.  Though there were times that it seemed so slow and we weren't sure we would ever be back to "normal," it mostly went by with lightning speed.

Although it caught me off guard a little, I think it was for the best to happen so suddenly.  It's hard to know when I would've finally gotten ready to plan a big "transition" weekend like we did with the other two.  We are very thankful for no hiccups in sleep... and thankful for a few more baby things to hang on to for just a bit longer :)
