march field trips

Our co-op group had a couple of great field trips last month.  The first was to a fish hatchery and environmental education center.

Gehr's group started by making animal tracks....

I love his concentration face

It was beautiful there too!

Greer's group...making frog-face bug-catchers :)

And for the dirty work...owl pellet examination.  Yuck!

Lunch time

Afterwards Greer was part of a play about the three sisters of agriculture.  So cute :))

While Gehr and the boys wrote secret messages in the spy class like George Washington once did...

Love these sweet friends.  Not afraid of a little dirt and worms ;)

The following week, we went to study ecology through UGA's Savannah River lab.

The instructor was so kind and knowledgeable...

Holding on to specimens for further examination :)

I think the favorite part was the parade of animals...cool turtles and snakes, this beautiful owl, etc

And the pet coyote he has raised since he found it injured two years ago.  So cool!

We finished up with the kids getting turns at holding an alligator and snake.  Love that they don't even hesitate :)

Meanwhile, I'm good to stay behind the lens :)).  So thankful again for these fun times of learning with our friends.  And so can't believe this school year is almost done...those were the last field trips this year!  It has flown by.
