Home Away from Home

A couple of years ago when the Links moved, we were obviously super sad that we couldn't do day-to-day life with them anymore, but we also felt grateful that they weren't going too far away.  And they moved close to Papa & Rosie and Pots & Mammaw too.  So it has been great in general (if we HAVE to live in different towns), but it worked out especially well for some Spring Break visiting when B had a game down that way and Gehrig's two day field trip was also nearby.

We started out at Daddy's game and got to visit with Mammaw there :)

On to the Links' for the weekend.  Coloring and crafts :)

Saturday, Papa & Rosie met us for lunch and a little playtime at the park :)

Papa is so fun with them!  So thankful we got to visit with them.

And oh yeh, for the grownups...Catan-playing while watching some NCAA basketball

B had to leave after church Sunday to get back for Masters work.  While Jenn and I worked on a little dinner (she doing the bulk of the work, me there for moral support :)), the kiddos enjoyed some Cedarmont...a classic :)

The next day, we enjoyed a little morning playtime and visiting before Gehr and I headed to Jekyll for his field trip.

And then, pics from Jenn while we were away.  I'm not sure that the girls even noticed I was gone :)

We are so grateful for her willingness to take on our kiddos for a couple of days.  It is the easiest of transitions for us with their lives/routines being so similar to ours.  And she loves them so well.  Thanks Jenn, for the fun they had and the care you gave them...and for the opportunity it gave Gehr and me to make some great memories together!

Gehr and I got back and enjoyed a visit for a day or so before heading back.  I got to love on the kids that morning while Jenn was away and this cute face was about to fall asleep for me at lunch...I could eat him up :)

Greer ran fever the last day with Jenn and for a couple more after.  Poor Babygirl :(

And my only shot of Jenn...she and Garner bonded during their visit :)

Just reading, Mom :)

And on the way home...all exhausted but happy!

More on the field trip coming soon!!

Greer's School Easter Party

Greer and I had so much fun making Easter treats for her party at school!  Her classmates were cute and knew so much about Easter and Jesus' death and resurrection.  Their teachers are the BEST.  I can't believe the details that Greer comes home with from Bible stories.  As Easter approached, she would just randomly share facts...

"When Jesus 'wode' on the donkey, they sang 'Hosanna!'"

"Did you know that they whipped Jesus 39 times?"

"At the last meal together, he gave them bread and wine to 'be-member' his body and blood."

"Do you know how Mary knew that it was 'weally' Jesus, alive again?  She 'knowed' his voice." :)

"Jesus came to the disciples even though the door was locked!  No one else can come through a door that is locked.  It was a may-ricle!"

And much, much more...they make it come alive and she is learning so much and soaking in the Word. We are so grateful!

St. Patty's Day...Kind Of :)

With so much going on this time of year, we didn't remember to wear green on St. Patty's Day or make any special plans.  But since it fell on a Saturday, we ended up enjoying the beautiful weather at Daddy's double-header and then out running errands.  For dinner, we ended up at everyone's fave Chickfila and for whatever reason, had such a great time!  A thoroughly enjoyable meal with 3 young children isn't an every day occurrence in our house...there's always someone to remind to sit down or eat or stop playing etc etc.

Sure do love these silly kids...and the green ice cream was yummy :)

Mads is a Whole Handful!

So fun celebrating our unofficial daughter's 5th birthday...

Big Gs give her a present before her party...

The sweet birthday girl

She had a fun gumball party at a jumping/playset place...

It's been awhile since Gehr has been on inflatables...all of our kids love them!

Multi-kid sliding :)

Sweet faces

Loved the outdoor playsets and visiting with the Aultmans too!

Sam enjoyed himself too :)

Love this pic.  Love these kids.  :)

Awesome party favors...except that my kids ask for gumballs every day now, haha ;)

Tornadic weather kept us there a little longer :).  Oh, the technology for this generation!

Garner thinks this chair is hers...clearly not able to decifer S-a-m :)

Stinker won...cried until Sam let her have it to herself

Oh, but they still love each other :)

Ahhhhhhhhh

And an attempt at a couch kid pic...one uninterested party

So fun with them as always...and truly crazy that it has been 5 years since we first heard Matt announce the name "Madilyn Amanda."  We love you Madi!!
