Our BFFs (or VFFs, as Greer says it :)) were so awesome to come hang for the weekend (a) because it's been awhile since we were all together for a good visit and (b) to enjoy watching the big SEC championship game between mine and B's two house-divided teams.
The multi-level bunk beds with trundle sure do make visits fun...Madi, Greer & Gehrig.
Hard to imagine a much better Sat AM...breakfast and playtime in our pjs, good exercise time for the grownups and nice catching up all around. It doesn't matter how many times a day we talk/text, we still can't get a good feel for what the kids are like these days until we have time together. Especially for the 2yrolds who start doing/saying something new every day!

Madi helped Gehr make cards to take Sunday to the kids' pastors
They got to watch a show while Jenn and I worked in the kitchen some :)
And then, 4pm arrived and we watched the best college football game that I can remember. Ever.
For a good part of the game, it looked like UGA was going to pull it out. The boys were so super pumped!

And then, before we all knew what happened, the game was over and Bama prevailed. Now I will say, I am a huge college football fan. I was raised in a home with two Bama grads as parents and did my famous-person-report in middle school on Bear Bryant. I have always pulled hard for the Tide. BUT, Georgia has always been a close second as favorite teams go and I honestly know more of their players etc from going to more of their games and listening to my 7yrold talk incessantly about their entire roster. And seriously, who wouldn't adore a coach who follows the Lord as closely as Mark Richt does?
SOoooo, I have to say...it wasn't that fun to win. Especially when my firstborn, football-obsessed, sweetheart of a son cried until he fell asleep that night. It truly hurt my heart and made me just wish that Georgia would've won this time. I'm not sure what it says about me as a fan, but wife and mama totally trumped the fan part of me. With tear-filled eyes, Gehrig asked if he could just fall asleep in our bed and he finally did. Thankfully he woke the next morning feeling much better. It was a hard-fought game for both teams and a great one to watch with our buds.
Amazingly, we still had enough energy after that exhausting game to get in a game of Catan that night! Complete with homemade chocolate pretzel rods. YUM and so fun!
We also did some fun cooking/baking/treat-making and started our advent season/plans together, but more to come on that soon. Love sharing all these memories and fun events/seasons with you guys! Much love :)
