gathering of family

Loved having a quick visit with the Marietta fam last month to celebrate Megan and Nathan's baptism. Garner enjoyed sitting with Lily while we watched...couldn't decide which pic was the cutest, so...

Greer had lots of love for Uncle Slade :)

And afterwards...sweet family and such a precious service for these two.  We were so thankful to be a part of their big day!

We missed Britt, Margaret and Brock :(

Bebe and grands :)

And good snuggles for me!

The bigs wanted some Lily-love before we got on the road too.  Wish we could've snuck her home with us!

And a crazy situation on the interstate held us up for hours...we were so thankful that the kids were sweet while we couldn't go anywhere and that this one just gave in and slept :)

Congratulations, Megan and Nathan, on such a big day and important decision.  We are excited about the plans that He has for you!  Love you both so much!!

football friday nights

Daddy's football season is here again!  On our way to the first game in 2013 :)

Mid-August and we were wrapped up in hoodies and wearing jeans...and still a bit cold!  And she looks like a teenager sometimes :(

Looking for Dada :)

Sweet kiddos

Everybody loves snack time ;)

Glad Daddy wore his white hat...he was easy for us to keep up with.

After-game visiting...fun to play against a team with buddies :)

I'm sure that we will go back to a few hot and humid Friday nights before the cool nights are back.  It was kind of nice, though.  Oh, and the team looks great this year too!!  Go Knights!

sam's 3!

On the way to T.R. for Sam's birthday party, we made a picnic stop in downtown Greenville.  It is so pretty there!

Birthday boy and his sweet fam :)

Sam had requested an Orange party, so we all decked out except for Gehrig.  Other than a small stripe in that plaid shirt, he has NO orange in his closet at all!

Visiting :)

Cuties :)

So fun to catch up with MaeMae :)

Cute themed treats and present time...

Love their whole family and thankful to be there with them.  Happy birthday, sweet Sam!  We love you so much! :))

first month of school

First day of school!  It's a little earlier than we're used to :)

Garner was so excited to have some work of her own.  Working on learning letters this year...

Blows my mind that he is in 3rd grade...

Greer's time with Garner usually includes a little teaching and some girly play with babies or dressups. They matched fruits this day :)

The girly way to practice kindergarten spelling words :)

Gehrig reads Greer her read-alouds each day while I work

Around day 3, I remembered that I didn't take the traditional first-day-of-school pics.  So, officially... Gehrig starts 3rd grade and Greer starts Kindergarten.  I'm so thankful I get to go with them to school every day!

Stamping and dotting As

And matching colors...

Melting into silliness...not sure there's a sight better than this :)

We didn't really know where we would all end up sitting, but it looks like it will mostly be in the dining room to have a table space big enough for more students now.  So thankful to have it and the schoolroom too for some work, play and storage.

We started Veritas history this year and the kids LOVE it!  They beg to do multiple lessons every day.

Girl time with counting bears while Gehr and I work...

So fun to play with old-school felt boards from Bebe...

Garner-Bug matching bugs while Greer works on her calendar notebook...

All I know about preschool time, I've learned from Jenn and her favorite homeschool blogs.  Love these trays and Garner loves seeing what she has each day!

Gehrig can't wait for his time with Garner every day :)

Greer squeezed in for a pic too...what a blessing to be home with them!  Makes me stop to give thanks.

We also copied the calendar notebook that Jenn put together for Madi last year.  It is one of Greer's favorite part of the day!  A couple fun parts of it... she counts the days of school using place-value (yay for my love of math!) and draws a picture of whatever she wants each day.  So thankful I will always have it to look back at.

We weren't even awake by this time each day last year ;)

Another fave activity this year is the bigs' thankful journal time.  Gehrig's has a lot of mentions of sports and friends and animals, while Greer's is more abstract and girly...swirls, designs, hearts, love, etc.  And then fun entries like this too:

Learning to cut and sorting poms...

All 3 have loved co-op so far, with Gehrig getting more into bigtime work, Greer moving upstairs for elementary and Garner being happy as long as someone is reading her a book :)

Sending love to Daddy one morning

And what Gehr chose for the mammals section of his co-op animal notebook... I was thinking "bear, monkey, whale..."  And why is a golden lion tamarin not a lion at all, but a monkey? :)

Sweet Bug started 2yo preschool...

Went straight for the books...it's her comfort

Brain hat from MayMay's fun body class at co-op...

And what most days look like...good working and learning and a little football reading close by...

But we do have some that are tough too...when we have to keep going when we don't feel like it and lose play privileges for not working hard.  Always praying that we balance it all well and thankful that we get to work through these life lessons together, learning that His grace is sufficient for all our weakness!

Never planned on homeschooling or even being home full-time, but am so thankful that He did.  I've never loved a job more.  His ways are always higher :))
