This school year brought big change to our home. Although it was never our plan before kids, we have absolutely loved homeschooling and having our family together so much of the time. As Gehrig approached middle school, we prayed and prayed for direction and finally felt at peace about sending him. Knowing his daddy would be there was huge comfort for me and Gehr himself was completely at ease with the idea of going. A few weeks after making the decision and registering him, we found out that his best bud would get to go to the same school after Jen took a job at the corresponding elementary school. Huge cherry on top for him and even more comfort for his mama, knowing that he'd have his fave (and godly) buddy with him :))

As the first day approached, my mama apprehension grew. The night before, B sensed it heavy and loaded us all up to head to the school, pray over his halls and over the new year coming. So thankful for his heart, for his reminder to always give every moment/worry/fear to the Lord and for his access to the school that night ;)

And a little while later that morning, this face walks right in from waking to say "it's kindergarten today!" She is so beyond excited for big kid school. And I'm excited to focus on it with her :)

Blown away to see Garner's artwork that first day...she couldn't finish because she was being so careful. They drew the lines too and she was even prouder of the straight lines than the neat coloring. All three Gs have loved coloring and drawing and art and I have zero of those talents! Must be from their daddy's side :)
Another info sheet...just have to document these. Really love to see what he puts down :)
Although the reading lessons may be long (as he referenced above ;)), he is the sweetest to work with her and watch her learn...and we are all so happy when he gets home from school!

We so loved all of the Olympics, but it was a challenge to have them start at 8pm these first couple of weeks of school...the year that we actually have to focus on bedtimes for waking earlier ;)

The girls commented the first couple of co-op weeks that it was so weird without Gehrig...we are all adjusting to the new normal

Although this year is new and different in so many ways, we are so grateful for incredible communities for our kids to learn and grow and enjoy learning! Settling in and trusting Him for each step and decision as we go :)
