So, my summer project was to put together a specific daily schedule that allowed for homeschooling two kids, getting our chores done, working from home in the afternoons and all the other miscellaneous things that fill in our time. We planned to start school on August 5th, but sat down as a family the week before to go through the schedule day-by-day and hour-by-hour. Surprisingly, the kids were so excited they wanted to start the next morning (July 31st) instead!
We set their alarm for early (no more sleeping until whenever) and they started off so well. We could already tell on day 1 that we were so very thankful for our new dining room table. It allows us to all be together and spread out comfortably. We still use the schoolroom for some activities and for storing materials. What a blessing!
The bigs each have an assigned time where they play with and teach Garner. Greer LOVES being her teacher. Working on picture flashcards here in the kitchen during their time :)
And chores! They have their morning chores when they wake and then we all stop at 10:30 to do the chore for the day. The girls love to spray and wipe...
...and Gehr has learned how to vaccuum! I can honestly say that our house has never been this consistently clean. Such a nice change!
Loved this scene. Gehrig has his "Garner time" right before lunch. They were playing in the schoolroom while Greer and I worked on math in the dining room. Can't think of a place I'd rather be than right here...
Thankful for a great first day and trial run of the schedule! And I have to give much credit to Managers of Their Homes...an awesome resource for thinking through and making our daily schedule. Hoping and praying for a great school year!
