Guitar Pull

A country music concert even for the non-country music fan! Loved the laid back setup of the annual Guitar Pull. My favorite act of the night was Josh Turner.
.

And such a fun date night with my hubby!

Fall Ball

No one signed up to coach Gehrig's tball team this fall. As much as B would love to coach Gehrig's little league teams, his work schedule is crazy during football and baseball season. But when he got the call that their team would have to disband if B didn't take over as coach, he couldn't refuse. I know that it was a lot on him, but I am so thankful that he did it. He is such a good coach and is amazing with kids!

And Gehrig? At the very first practice, I heard him in the dugout say to a teammate, "See that guy over there? He's the coach...and he's MY dad!" Absolutely-melt-your-heart-proud.

Next to having his daddy as his coach, Gehrig's favorite part of this team was having his buddy Cole as his teammate!

Team meeting.

On deck.

Running bases.

The cheerleader. :)

Trophies!

It was a good, quick, busy season. A couple of Evans' ball players helped B coach as part of their senior project and did a great job!! Goodbye tball field until the spring!

County Fair

The boys finally made it to the fair on its last night...and boy did they have fun!

G thought the human cannonball was so cool.

Sweet happy fun face.

Perfect fall night when you're 4.

Some Papa Time

We got to visit with Papa a couple of weekends ago when B's football playoffs took us his way. He met us there, let us stay with him and had a great time with the Gs. Greer especially bonded with him...sweet and amazing considering her normal hesitancy with anyone she doesn't see daily. :)

Loving School

I am SO glad that Gehrig and Greer love school! It makes the hard decision to work outside the home so much easier. We LOVE their teachers and enjoy watching them make good friends. This year Gehrig has reconnected with a buddy that he used to play with a lot when he was little. One day last week, Gehrig got to invite Grayson to come home with him to play. They were so cute and funny! They told me about needing a snack for "energy to fight a wolf" and the games of "girl chasin" they play at school. This just might be my favorite age!!

Trying to keep up with the boys and their swords...

We also love all the fun activities the kids enjoy at school. Gehrig got to bring his bike to school last week for their Road Rally (hilarious!) and then enjoyed learning about rhythm and music through a demonstration of various african drums and other instruments. So cool!

I miss being with them during the day, but am so grateful that God has provided such a loving, fun, godly environment for them when I have to work. And honestly, I think they love getting to go there...as is evident by the fact that Greer is now saying "no, mommy" when I come to pick her up! Now, if they will just extend the school beyond kindergarten...

A Weekend Rundown

So, we're a week, or two, behind! The busyness is getting to me...and it has only just begun! So here's what I meant to blog a week (and a half) ago...

Absence makes the (already-very-fond) heart grow fonder. Gehrig's girlfriend, Katelyn came to visit for an afternoon. We so miss having time with them like this on a weekly basis!! We would like to move the entire city of Chattanooga closer to us, mmmkay? Please? We miss all of you up there so much!!
.

The next day, B's childhood best bud, Travis got married in Savannah. We went to Mammaw & Pots' house that morning and spent a beautiful day on the farm. I can't believe I am saying this (loving the conveniences of city-life and all), but the older I get ,the more I love being out in the country. I love being with family and being outside and getting away from the fast pace.

And the kids? They love it. Greer was made for nature and taking care of and playing with plants and animals. She sure doesn't mind getting dirty! She kept thanking God for the "blue skies, pretty trees, awesome day." I love watching her. Both Gs chased butterflies, watered plants in the nursery, climbed on the tractors, rode the golf carts and played with Breezy the dog.

They stayed there while we went to the wedding and festivities. It was great to share that time with Travis and catch up with everyone. I love watching B with his old friends. :) The Gs did some exercising, guitar-playing and snack-eating while we were gone. Thanks, Mammaw!

Then the night we got home, the cupcake fairy (and her family) visited. And we got silly. I'm telling ya...these things are magic. :)
.

Love that B and I are actually taking bites for the picture, haha! Yum!

A Fun Weekend for My Boy

It started last Thursday with Gehrig's class fall party. They focused on a cute farm/harvest theme.
.
While we were there, his teacher told us that it was Gehrig's weekend to take home the class pet, Noah Bear. I'm now hearing more from other parents about how big of a deal this was for their kids, but I had no idea before getting Noah. Gehrig was SO excited! We literally took care of him like he was a baby and took him everywhere. He even slept with G, pappy & lovey...that is sacred ground! It was all really sweet.

One of the places that Gehrig went (with Noah) was to his FIRST big boy friend sleepover! Gehrig's friend, Luke turned 5 and was allowed to ask 2 friends to spend the night. Gehrig and Brady stayed over and had the best time! They were so grown-up, never thinking about wanting to come home. It was all I could do to get G to stop playing for just a second to tell me goodnight on the phone. I know that it's silly, but it was pretty sad for me. I'm glad that he is such a strong, happy, big boy but you know...

We met back up with him the next morning at the Pumpkin Palooza fall festival. Blowups, a petting zoo, hayride, lots of candy & sweets and carnival rides = great 4-yr-old fun!

He slept for a long time that afternoon to rest up after all the fun. October sure was good...full album is finally ready!
